Sint-Truiden (the team is also known as K. Sint-Truidense V.V. or STVV) is a Belgian football club that was created in 1924 when F.C. Union and F.C. Goldstar merged to form one team that represented a small town Sint-Truiden in Limburg. The first match of the team was attended only by 9 supporters. In the 1940s the side qualified to the 2nd division, where Sint-Truiden played for a decade. In 1957 the side climbed to the top tier of Belgian football, starting one of the most successful spells in team’s history: under the helm of Raymond Goethals the club finished as a runner-up in the season 1965/1966.
The only major trophy the team claimed was the Belgian League Cup in the season 1997/1998. In 2008 the women’s outfit FCL Rapide Wezemaal became a part of the club.
The nickname of the team is the Canaries. The chairman of the club is André Donvil.
