Austrian football club SK Sturm Graz was founded in 1909 by local working men.
SK Sturm Graz was an amateur club and played in the country’s lowest divisions most of the time. In the early 1980s Otto Baric was appointed as the club’s head coach, and the success came to the team. Under the new manager the club finished runner-up in the Bundesliga and qualified for the UEFA Cup. However, soon SK Sturm Graz faced financial problems which made key footballers leave the team, that’s why the club’s performance wasn’t that successful.
In the mid-1990s a new powerful supporter revived SK Sturm Graz and started to strengthen the team. Under new head coach Ivica Osim the club considerably improved its performance.
SK Sturm Graz won three Austrian Bundesliga titles, became a four-time winner of the Austrian Cup, got into the final of this tournament four times, celebrated the victory in the Austrian Supercup three times and won the 2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup.
