Sporting Club Vaslui is a football club in Romania, named after the city it is located in, Vaslui. It was established in 2002 when the Divizia C team Victoria Galaţi moved to Vaslui and the players from Dunărea Galaţi formed the new squad. The club’s name was changed to Fotbal Club Municipal Vaslui, for short it is FC Vaslui. Adrian Porumboiu, the team’s owner, changed the colors of the kit. Recently promoted to Divizia B, the team reached the top division after three years since its creation.
Their first season in Divizia A started with a winless first half of a season but the second half was much better. The following season had a poor start and finished eighth.
In the 2008/09 season Vaslui competed in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, where they reached the third round and the UEFA Cup, but didn’t qualify for the group stage. That season they finished fifth in the league thus got a chance to qualify for the Europa League, where they lost to AEK Athens and failed to advance to the group stage. In 2009/10 they were third in the league and were runners-up at the Romanian Cup tournament. The following season the team was third in the Liga I again.
In the 2011/12 season was a success for Vaslui as they reached the UEFA Europa League group stage for the first time and were second in the league.
The team use Municipal Stadium in Vaslui as their home venue. It has a capacity of 9,240.
