Vicenza Calcio is an Italian football club founded in 1902 in the city of Vicenza.
The club embarked on their way in amateur Italian leagues. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, they bounced up and down between lower divisions of professional football. Their first run into the top flight dates back to the 1942/43 season. In 1955, Vicenza won promotion to Serie A again. Though constantly finishing in mid-table mediocrity, the team impressed with 20 consecutive seasons in the top flight since that year. In the 1977/78 season, they finished as runners-up ceding only to Juventus, the feat never accomplished before, and won a ticket to the 1978/79 UEFA Cup. However, their European participation was short-lived as Vicenza got the mitten after the first round losing 1-2 on aggregate to Dukla Prague.
In between 1981 and 1993, the team found themselves on the downward spiral as they mostly competed in the third division. In 2005 Vicenza got into Serie B and regularly compete there till today.
Such notable players as Paolo Rossi and Roberto Baggio had their spells at Vicenza. The team play their home matches at Stadio Romeo Menti that can hold up to 17,163 people.
