Virtus Lanciano is an Italian football club founded in 1919 in Lanciano in the region of Abruzzo. A minnow in Italian football, the club has never reached the top-flight Serie A or won any competitive silverware. Throughout their history, the team led a largely unremarked existence as a lower division side mostly rotating between the third and the fifth tiers.
The 2011/12 season turned to be a glorious campaign for Virtus Lanciano as the club won a promotion play-off to the second division. It’s difficult to say that they impressed much during their first run into Serie B as they won only 6 out of 25 matches played with 17 games ahead in the 2012/13 season, but still, the team is likely to retain the place in the league.
The team’s colors are red and black. They play their home matches at Stadio Guido Biondi that can hold up to 10,336 people.
