Walsall F.C. is a football club that was created in 1888 under the name Walsall Town Swifts.Walsall was one of the founding clubs of the Second Division in 1892, though for most of its history the team played outside of top divisions.
One of the most impressive moments in the club’s history was a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup as Fellows Park. Arsenal claimed the honors on the First Division that season and the defeat in the cup competition was the major upset for the Londoners.
The farthest the team progressed in the cup competitions was the semi-final of the League Cup in the 1983/1984. The best league finish was the sixth place in Division Two in the season 1898/1999.
The main rivals of the side are Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion.
Walsall play in a red and white kit, the club’s crest features a swift. The nickname is the Saddlers and it refers to Walsall’s status of a traditional centre for saddle manufacture.
The home ground of the side is Bescot Stadium that can sit up to 11,300.
