NK Zadar is a Croatian football club from the city of Zadar. It was founded on April 26, 1945.
The team’s first campaign in the Prva HNL saw the club finish tenth. In the 1995/1996 season Zadar failed to avoid the relegation zone and finally dropped into the second tier. The side produced an eye-catching football in Druga HNL and deservedly won promotion to the elite division. After struggling to adjust to the step up, Zadar finished bottom of the Prva HNL at the end of the 1998/1999 season and the relegation back to the second division was suffered. In 2001 the club found its way back to the Prva HNL but a few years later another relegation followed. Two years later NK Zadar was promoted to the main division via a play-off success against NK Pula.
Zadar’s home matches are played at Stanovi Stadium with a seating capacity of 5,860.
Dado Pršo, the former Croatian star striker, began his rise to stardom with NK Zadar.
