Alan Scott Pardew is an English midfielder. After finishing his player career, Alan became a manager and nowadays has a spell at Newcastle United.
Alan twice made his way through to the FA Cup finals: in 1990 as a Crystal Palace player and in 2006 as a West Ham United manager.
Alan began his career in Whyteleafe, whilst working as a cab driver and a glazier. Then Pardew transferred to Epsom & Ewell. After that, Alan returned to Corinthian Casuals. Later he signed for Dulwich Hamlet. Due to his outstanding midfielder skills Alan was invited to Yeovil Town, where he played one season.
In 1988/1999, Alan and his new team, Crystal Palace, were promoted to the Championship. During five years in the club, Pardew made 150 appearances in different tournaments and netted 12 goals.
In November 1991, Alan signed a contract with Charlton Athletic and became the top goalscorer of the 1992/1993 season, making 10 goals. In 1995, he went on loan to Tottenham Hotspur and found the net 26 times in 125 matches.
Then Alan moved to Barnet, where he both played in the first team and coached the reserve team. After that, he became a playing coach.
In 1997, Pardew transferred to Reading and at the age of 37 was appointed caretaker manager after dismissal of the former head coach.
In December 2010, Alan became the new leader of Newcastle United and signed a 5.5 year contract.
