Arsène Wenger is a French football manager that has been working with Arsenal since 1996.
From 1981 till 1994 Wenger coached French teams AS Nancy and Monaco. In 1995/1996 he was the manager of Nagoya Grampus Eight that lifted the J-League Super Cup and the Emperor’s Cup. After the 1995/1996 season, Arsène Wenger was voted the J. League Manager of the Year.
Starting from 1996 Wenger has been at the helm of Arsenal. Under his guidance the team managed to become the repeated Premier League winners, gain the FA Cup, the Community Shield and to make their way through to the Champions League and the UEFA Cup finals.
Arsène Wenger has the specific nickname ‘Le Professeur’ in England. Besides, he is the first foreign coach in the British Isles, whose club won the national league.
On 19 October 2010 the International Federation of Football History and Statistics published the list of the best 21st century coaches. Arsène Wenger was chosen the World Coach of the Decade.
