Robert Bradley is an American soccer player and a manager. He was born in 1958 in Montclair, New Jersey. He started to play soccer at West Essex High School and Princeton University.
When he was 22 he became the manager of Ohio University’s Division 1 soccer program and worked in many universities until 1996. In that year he became an assistant coach of the D.C. United in Major League Soccer. The next team he headed from 1998 to 2002 was Chicago Fire. Bradley led them to the MLS Cup title and two US Open Cup titles. He was named the MLS Coach of the Year.
Since 2003 he headed MetroStars, Chivas USA, United States U-23 and in 2006 he was appointed the United States’ national team head coach. Under his guidance the team won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and twice they finished runners-up. In the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup the United States finished runners-up.
In October 2011 Bradley took charge of the Egypt national team and guided them for two years. After failing to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, Bradley was released and moved to Norway, where he started coaching Stabaek IF.
