Bob Paisley was a footballer, later became a manager. He was born in 1919 and after a stay at Bishop Auckland, he joined Liverpool, thus gave a start to his professional playing career in 1939. An interval in his playing career followed due to World War II and then Paisley went on playing. In 1946/47 Liverpool won Football League First Division.
Paisley played for the team until 1954 and after retirement he remained at the club, working as a Physiotherapist. Then he coached the reserve team and between 1959 and 1974 he was an assistant to Bill Shankly. When 1974 Shankly left his position Paisley became the manager of Liverpool and guided them until 1983. Being at the helm of the team he led them to six Football League First Division titles, three League Cups, six FA Charity Shield wins, three European Cup titles, in 1975/76 they won UEFA Cup and in 1977 the team claimed UEFA Super Cup. Paisley was the club’s director between 1985 and 1992. He died in 1996. He spent his entire professional playing career and remained dedicated to the club.
