Bruno Labbadia was born on February 8, 1966 in Darmstadt, West Germany. Bruno played football since when a child, which predestined his future.
Bruno practiced in such German clubs as FSV Schneppenhausen, SV Weiterstadt and SV Darmstadt 98. At the age of 18 forward Labbadia joined the senior league and played for the country’s leading clubs. During his playing career Bruno played in 1. and 2. Bundesliga. Labbadia played for SV Darmstadt 98 (1984-1987), Hamburger SV (1987-1988), FC Kaiserslautern (1988-1991), FC Bayern Munich (1991-1994), FC Köln (1994-1995), SV Werder Bremen (1995-1998), Arminia Bielefeld (1998-2001) and Karlsruher SC (2001-2003). Together with FC Kaiserslautern the footballer won the German cup (1990) and championship (1991). In 1994, Bruno became national champion again – with FC Bayern Munich. In 1999, he was awarded Best Scorer of 2. Bundesliga.
Bruno Labbadia played 6 matches for the West Germany U-21 team and 2 matches for the Germany national team but he only scored for the U-21 team.
Right after finishing the professional playing career, Bruno became a coach. In 2003-2010, he was in charge of such German clubs as SV Darmstadt 98, Greuther Furth, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and Hamburger SV. On December 12, 2010 Labbadia was appointed VfB Stuttgart head coach. The coach was sacked after an unsuccessfull start of the 2013/2014 campaign.
