Christopher ‘Chris’ Hughton (born 11 December 1958 in Forest Gate, England) is a football manager and former right back.
He started his football career in 1977, signing for Tottenham Hotspur. In 1981 and 1982 Hughton lifted the FA Cup. Two years later, in 1984, he gained the UEFA Cup. In 1990, Chris transferred to West Ham United and then to Brentford.
From 1979 till 1991, Chris was capped for the Republic of Ireland national team, making 53 appearances. He was part of nation’s final teams for Euro 1988 and the World Cup that took place in 1990.
In June 1998, Christopher became the member of the Tottenham Hotspur coaching staff. At the beginning, he coached the youth team. Then, in 1999, he was appointed the reserve team coach. In 2001, he was put in charge of the first team. He also had to serve as caretaker manager on two occasions.
In February 2008, Hughton was invited to work as the first team coach in Newcastle United. In September 2009, Chris served as caretaker manager. On 27 October 2009, Christopher signed a contract for the 2009/2010 season and was appointed the club manager.
Hughton was also the head coach of Birmingham City in 2011, and of Norwich City, from 2012 to 2014.
