Colin Todd is a retired player, currently he is a manager of Randers FC. He was born in 1948 in Chester-le-Street, England, and graduated from Sunderland youth team, with whom he won the 1967 FA Youth Cup. By that time he had already switched to the first team. Todd made his debut for Sunderland in 1966, that match was a 1-1 draw against Chelsea. He proved himself a regular starter and played for the team until February 1971, when he joined Derby County for £175,000. In his first season with the club they won the First Division Title and in 1975 won a second league title and that year Todd was awarded as PFA Players’ Player of the Year. He left the club in 1979 and then played for Everton, Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Oxford United, Vancouver Whitecaps and Luton Town. He represented the England national team and earned 27 caps.
The first team Todd took charge of was Middlesbrough. That was in 1990 and in 1992 he moved to Bolton Wanderers where he was an assistant coach in 1995 he became the co-manager with McFarland and in 1996 took all the charge by himself. In the 1996/97 season Bolton Wanderers won the First Division title.
In 2000, he had a short stint at Swindon Town, then he worked at Derby County but didn’t stay there for long and moved to Bradford City in 2003.
In the summer of 2007, Todd moved to Denmark where he became the head coach of Randers FC. He left them in January 2009 and had a short period at Darlington. In June 2012, he became the interim coach at Randers and then made the deal permanent.
