Darren Ferguson is a retired football player, a current manager of Peterborough United. A son of Alex Ferguson, he was born in 1972 in Glasgow, Scotland, and came through the academy of Manchester United and then joined the first squad, guided by his father but in 1994 Darren left the club for Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of £250,000. In 1999, he signed for Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam, but soon left it and joined Wrexham, where he played until 2007. The 2007/08 season he spent with Peterborough United and in January he left the club and became player-manager of Peterborough United.
Darren Ferguson led Peterborough to second place in League Two in his first full season of management, thus getting promotion. In his second season with the Peterborough they gained promotion to the Championship. In January 2010, he left the team and took charge of Preston North End. During his spell the team played 49 games, won 13, drew 12 and lost 24 games and at the end of 2010 he was sacked.
In January 2011, Darren Ferguson returned to Peterborough United and still manages them.
