He was born in 1954 in Lille and had a long professional playing career. He played for different football clubs in Germany, England, France and Turkey. Among these teams were Marseille, Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Aston Villa, Metz, Stade Vallauris, Galatasaray and the last team he played for was VfB Leipzig.
Didier Six won 52 caps for the France national football team and scored 13 goals. He appeared in the 1978 FIFA World Cup, 1982 World Cup and won Euro 1984 as a part of the team.
In 1986 he headed RC Strasbourg and in November 2011 he took charge of the Togo national team.
