Gilson Kleina is a Brazilian coach who is currently in charge of Palmeiras from the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. He was born on 30 March 1968 in Curitiba, Brazil.
Gilson took up coaching in 1998. Initially, he managed the youth teams of such clubs as Coritiba, Atlético-MG, Botafogo and the French side Olympique de Marseille. Aside from a short spell at Marseille, Kleina coached only Brazilian clubs. For 14 years of coaching career he was at the helm of myriad of clubs such as Villa Nova, Iraty, Criciúma, Paraná Clube, Caldense, Cianorte, Paysandu, Coruripe, Gama, Ipatinga, Caxias, Duque de Caxias, Boavista and Ponte Preta. However, Kleina can’t boast the same array of trophies on his trophy cabinet. His only record is the Campeonato Alagoano victory in 2006 when he coached Coruripe.
After the successful 2011/12 season with Ponte Preta, Gilson Kleina took over Palmeiras after dismissed Luiz Felipe Scolari to help them to escape relegation.
