Gordon Igesund is a former South African football player, current the manager of the national team of South Africa.
During his coaching career Igesund played for such clubs as Durban City, Highlands Park, Durban United, Durban Bush Bucks, AmaZulu, African Wanderers, D’Alberton Callies, and also for Austrian teams GAK and Admira Wacker.
Gordon Igesund entered into coaching in 1995, when he was appointed as the head of African Wanderers. A year later the tactician joined Manning Rangers, leading a mid-table team to the victory in the League in the season 1996/1997. Four years later the manager clinched the first place in the championship with Orlando Pirates. After facing harsh criticism from the fans who were not satisfied with the style and tactics, the coach joined Cape Town’s Santos and again won the league with his new team.
From 2002 to 2012 the manager trained such clubs as Ajax Cape Town, Maritzburg United, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Free State Stars. The tactician was twice awarded as PSL coach of the season.
On 30 June 2012 Gordon Igesund was confirmed as South Africa national team head coach.
