A South African football coach Ian Palmer was born on 9 March 1966 in Johannesburg.
During his playing career, Palmer performed as a striker for PG Rangers and Orlando Pirates. But he became more famous working as a coach. He started his career with managing such clubs as Eldo Sporting and Mabopane Young Masters. In 2004, he was hired by Manning Rangers. Ian managed teams of such clubs as FCAK, Maritzburg United, African Warriors, United FC and Blackburn Rovers.
In 2012, Palmer was appointed as the new head coach of Black Leopards. He replaced the former coach Sunday Chidzambga. However, after two months he switched for Santos Cape Town.
In October 2013 Palmer took charge of Chippa United.
