Jay Heaps is an American coach and former professional defender. He was born on 2 August 1976 in Nashua, New Hampshire, the United States.
Jay started out his professional career at then-MLS side Miami Fusion in 1999. Thanks to his solid performances in a debut season, Heaps was awarded the MLS Rookie of the Year title at the end of 1999. In 2001, the promising young player joined another MLS club New England Revolution where he made a total of 243 appearances until the retirement in 2009. Heaps helped the team to win the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2007 and become the North American SuperLiga champion in 2008.
Jay Heaps took up coaching in November 2011 when he was appointed the head coach of his former club New England Revolution.
