John McGlynn is a football manager from Scotland. He was born in 1961 in Musselburgh, Scotland, and spent his youth playing career at Bolton Wanderers. Having graduated, he joined Berwick Rangers in 1980 and spent there three years. Then McGlynn had a season at Musselburgh Athletic and in 1995 he signed for Whitehill Welfare. He retired in 1997.
He began his managerial career at Easthouses Lily, where he was a co-manager, than he coached Musselburgh Athletic and after that worked with youth teams of Heart of Midlothian. In 2005, he became the caretaker of Hearts and in November 2006 left the side for Raith Rovers, where he was the head coach until 2012. He managed to lead his team to the victory in the Scottish Football League Second Division in 2008/09 thus earned promotion to the top flight. In June he left Raith Rovers for Heart of Midlothian. Half a year later he was released from the club. In September 2013 McGlynn took the helm at Livingston.
