José Bordalás Jiménez, aka Pepe, is a head coach of AD Alcorcón and the retired footballer. José was born on 5 March 1964 in Alicante. During his playing career, Pepe played only in the fourth division and regional categories.
In 1980, Pepe signed for Hércules and his professional playing career began. Nevertheless, the striker made no appearances for the club, as he was often sent on loans to various clubs. The former footballer used to perform for such clubs as Orihuela Deportiva, Villajoyosa, Rayo Ibense and Benidorm. When the contract with Hércules came to an end, Bordalás was scouted by Dénia. The last years of his playing career were spent at Altea. When Pepe was 28 he had to retire due to injury.
In 1993, José Bordalás was appointed as a coach for the reserve team of Alicante and his coaching career started off. In 1994, he was promoted to the club’s main squad.
The following years Pepe managed such clubs as Benidorm, Eldense and Mutxavista. In 1998, he returned to the former side Alicante. He helped the club to earn the promotion to the third division in three seasons.
Pepe’s first experience in the second division came from the former side Hércules, when he replaced Juan Carlos Mandiá in 2006.
In 2007, José returned to the third level with Alcoyano. In the 2009/2010 season, he was appointed as a manager of Elche from the second division. His debut season as the team’s head coach was lined with the squad taking the 6th place in the standings. During the next season, Pepe lead the team to the forth position reaching the play-off final. Nevertheless, Elche lost to Granada FC. The third season turned to be less successful for the club. And, after Villarreal CF B won Elche two points to zero, José was fired.
In May 2012, it was announced that Pepe would become the head coach of Alcorcón for a term of a season.
