Spanish coach Juan Antonio Albacete Anquela was born in Linares on September 11, 1957. He is known under a nickname ‘Anquelotti’.
At the age of 22, the footballer gained his first professional experience with Real Jaén in La Segunda B. He was with the team during the major part of his playing career. Anquela spent a season or two in such clubs as Elche, Albacete, Linares, Córdoba and Iliturgi. Juan Antonio spent the last season of his playing career (1991/1992) with his native Real Jaén.
In 1997, Anquela joined the Real Jaén coaching staff as a young specialist or even an apprentice. In the 2001/2002 season, he already was an acting coach with the club. Later, Juan Antonio was successful in using the acquired skills with such clubs as Huesca, Melilla, Águilas and Alcorón.
On June 18, 2012 Juan Antonio Anquela signed a two-year contract with Granada CF but was released in January 2013 after an unsuccessful run.
