Juan de Dios Castillo is a former Mexican football player. Castillo was born on 31 January 1951 in Mexico City. During his footballer’s career he played for such clubs as Pachuca, Toluca, Madero, San Luis, Atletico Espanol and Unión de Curtidores. He also was a regular in the Mexican national team.
After graduating from the National School of Coaches in 1983, Castillo started working with Mexican clubs from 3rd and 2nd league. In 1989 he was appointed as Mexican U-20 assistant manager, later moving to the position of the head coach. He led the side to the 5th place in the FIFA World Youth Championship in 1993.
In 1998 the Mexican tactician joined Santos Laguna from Torreón and helped the squad to reach the 3rd place in the Mexican League. His next achievement was the title of the national champions of Honduras that he claimed with Real C.D. in 2003.
A year later the manager finished as a runner-up with Marathon, yet in 2008 clinched the title again with Olimpia. After a short spell in Motagua in 2009, Castillo became the boss of Honduras national team that he led to the victory in the UNCAF Cup.
In 2012 Castillo was selected as the manager of the national team of El Salvador but only managed it for half a year. Later on the coach had a short spell with CD Motagua Tegucigalpa.
