Kent Nielsen is a retired Danish footballer, who is a manger of Aalborg BK. He was born in 1961 in Frederiksberg, Denmark, and began his professional playing career at Brønshøj BK in 1980. He spent there six years. During that period he made 230 appearances and scored 34 goals. In 1987, Nielsen joined Brøndby IF and stayed with the club till 1989, making 91 appearances he scored 7 goals. At that period Brøndby twice became Danish champion and in 1989 they won the Danish Cup.
In 1989, Nielsen was sold to Aston Villa for £500,000. In England he stayed until 1992. During the first two seasons he was regularly used but under the management of Ron Atkinson the footballer fell out of favor. Nielsen returned to Denmark and joined AGF Aarhus, helped them to win the 1992 Danish Cup and retired in 1994.
He represented Denmark at different youth levels and in October 1983 Nielsen made his debut for the senior squad. Since then he was called up to the senior squad and until his retirement earned 54 caps.
Since his retirement as a player Nielsen managed several amateur teams and in 2000 along with Lars Lundkvist became the co-manager of AGF Aarhus. In 2001, he took charge of AC Horsens and led them to the Danish Superliga, where they remained for several seasons and Nielsen moved to manage Brøndby in January 2009. In October 2011, he was appointed the head coach of Aalborg BK.
