Lars Olsen is a Danish professional football coach and former central defender. He is currently at the helm of the Faroe Islands national team.
As a player, Lars announced himself to the Danish football at Køge BK where he made 105 appearances for three years. He enjoyed even better fortune winning six Danish championships for a six-year stint, amassing all in all 178 matches. In 1992, he won the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor. Olsen was a regular international for the Denmark national team in between 1986 and 1996. He captained the team which won the UEFA Euro 1992 trophy.
Lars Olsen took up coaching at his former club Brøndby IF in 1997. In 2003, he moved to Randers from the second division. In the 2004/05 season, he graced the club helping them to break into the top-flight division. The next season, Randers supremo sparked furor when his side became the Danish Cup champion. In 2007, Olsen took over reins at Odense BK and helped the club to finish as a runner-up in 2008/09 Superliga. Since 2011, the Danish coach rules the roost at the Faroe Islands national football team.
