Levir Culpi is a Brazilian football manager, a former player. He didn’t have a long playing career and during his managerial career he coached many Brazilian teams, among them were Esporte Clube Juventude, Atlético Paranaense, Coritiba, Paraná Clube, Atlético Mineiro and several other. In 1988, he brought Inter de Limeira to the Brazilian Second Division Title, as well as Atlético Mineiro uder his rule in 2006. In 1996, he led Cruzeiro to the Copa do Brasil, with São Paulo he won Campeonato Paulista in 2000 and they finished the Copa do Brasil runner-up. Culpi led Criciúma to Copa Libertadores in 1992, where they reached the quarterfinals.
In 1997, he had his first spell at Cerezo Osaka and after that coached many Brazilian teams until 2007, when he returned to Japan, taking charge of Cerezo Osaka. In 2010, he helped the side to get promotion to the J. League Division 1 and they finished the season third and qualified for the AFC Champions League. In November 2011, he left the team and in August 2012 was appointed the manager of Cerezo Osaka thus became the head coach of the Japanese team for the third time.
In Decemeber 2013 Culpi left the club.
