Luiz Antonio Venker de Menezes was born in Passo do Sobrado, Brazil on June 11, 1962.
He began his football career in the late 1970s in Guarani de Venancio Aires, later he left his playing career for physical education.
In the late 1990s he headed Guarani de Venancio Aires. In some years Mano Menezes guided previously unknown 15 de Novembro club. Under his guidance he led the club to the 2004 Copa do Brasil semifinal.
In 2005 Menezes headed Gremio and led them to the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A. That year the team became the Champion of the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B.
Mano Menezes managed Corinthians from the end of 2007 till 2010 and brought them to Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B in 2008, Campeonato Paulista in 2009. Corinthians finished runners-up in 2008 and won 2009 Copa do Brasil.
In 2010 Menezes was hired as the head coach of the Brazilian national football team. Failing to create a competitive power he was dismissed at the end of 2012.
Half a year later he was named the new Flamengo manager. In 2014 Menezes switched for Corinthians.
