Manuel Amoros is a former French football player, currently manager of Benin national team. Amoros was born on 1 February 1962 in Nimes (France), though he started playing football on club level in the city of Monaco, staying in the local team for nine seasons. In 1989 he was signed by another French club Marseille, for which he played in 98 matches and scored twice. After a two-year spell in Lyon from 1993 to 1995, the defender came back to Marseille where in 1996 he retired from football.
Apart from his career on club level, Amoros is famous for playing regularly for French national team. Overall he made 82 appearances for the side, playing in the European championships in 1984 and 1992 and World Cups 1982 and 1986, after the last one he was voted by the press as the best right-back.
On 16 June 2010 he stepped into coaching and took over the Comoros Islands team.
Two years later Amoroso was chosen as Benin head coach.
