Manuel Machado is a Portuguese professional coach currently at the helm of Nacional in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He was born on 4 December 1955 in Oliveira, Portugal.
Manuel began his managerial career with Vitória Guimarães youth team in 1992. After that he coached an array of clubs such as Vita Real, Fafe, Moreirense, Académica, Braga, Aris and others. Machado had the most fruitful period of his career with Moreirense in between 2000 and 2004 as he led them to promotion to the top flight in 2002. In 2011, he helped Vitória Guimarães to finish as runners-up both in the Portuguese Cup and Portuguese Supercup. In 2012, Machado took over the coaching reins over powerful Nacional and manages the team today.
