Marco Kurz is a former German professional football defender who started a coaching career after retirement. He was born on May 16, 1969 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Marco Kurz is the product of the academy of Stuttgart VfB. He made his professional debut for the side in 1989, and a year later joined 1. Nuremberg FC. The footballer featured in 108 matches of the team over the period of 4 years.
In the season of 1994/1995 Marco Kurz made his best to break into the first string of Borussia Dortmund, but unsuccessfully. From 1995 till 1998 he defended the net of Schalke 04 FC and spent the rest of his career at 1860 München TSV (1998-2004). In the 2004/2005 season the experienced footballer also played for Pfullendorf SC.
As for his titles, Marco Kurz is the champion of the Fußball-Bundesliga of the 1994/1995 season (with Borussia Dortmund) and the winner of the 1996/1997 UEFA Cup (with Schalke 04 FC).
In 2006 Marco Kurz took the charge of 1860 München IITSV, then coached 1860 München TSV for 2 years, also worked with 1. Kaiserslautern FC (2009-2012). In 2013 Marco Kurz was announced a new head coach of 1899 Hoffenheim TSG, the side which had a disappointing start of the season. However, just a couple of months later he was released from the post.
