Masaaki Yanagishita is a retired Japanese football player, currently working as a manager of Albirex Niigata. He was born in 1960 in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan. He spent his youth playing career at local teams, playing as a defender. In 1982, when he was 22, he joined Yamaha Motors and in 1987 he began to play for the senior team. He spent the entire career with the club. During ten years there he appeared in 135 matches and, having left the team, he went on playing for amateur teams.
After the retirement, before Masaaki Yanagishita took up managerial career, he got education and in 2003 he headed his first team, Júbilo Iwata. He managed the team during a year, gaining experience, and in 2004 took charge of Consadole Sapporo. There he worked until 2006 and from 2009 till 2011 he managed his previous team, Júbilo Iwata. In 2012, Masaaki Yanagishita became the head coach of Albirex Niigata, signing a two-year contract.
