A German coach, Michael Bueskens was born in Dusseldorf on March 19, 1968.
Mike learned his football basics at the Alemannia Düsseldorf academy. In 1981, he was a midfielder in Fortuna Düsseldorf youth squad and in 1986 he joined VfL Benrath. Bueskens began his professional career in Fortuna Düsseldorf senior squad in 1987. He had the time of his career in Schalke 04 where he played since 1992. His biggest achievement with Schalke 04 was the UEFA Cup victory. In 2000, he had little success with MSV Duisburg and in the middle of the season he returned to Schalke 04 where he managed to win the national cup twice. In 2004, Bueskens finished his playing career in Schalke 04 II.
He stayed with Schalke 04 II as an assistant coach. In 2008, he became Schalke 04 interim head coach. At the end of 2009, Bueskens penned a contract with SpVgg Greuther Fürth from 2. Bundesliga. The team won 2. Bundesliga in the 2011/2012 season to get promoted to the top division. And, respectively, the coach got his contract extended. However, thing were not great in the top-tier and Michael was sacked at the beginning of 2013.
