Michael Frontzeck is a former professional footballer and current coach of FC St. Pauli in the 2. Bundesliga. He was born on 26 March 1964 in Mönchengladbach, Germany.
Michael started out his senior career with his hometown club Borussia M'gladbach in 1982 where he played for 7 years amassing 190 appearances. Since 1989 till 1994, he made a total of 163 appearances for VfB Stuttgart helping them to become a German champion and finish runners-up in the UEFA Euro in 1992. in the 1994/95 season, Frontzeck featured for VfL Bochum. In 1995, the left winger moved to England where he earned his first international experience with prominent Manchester City playing in 23 matches for two seasons with them. After that, Frontzeck had a two-year spell at Freiburg and one more spell at Borussia M'gladbach before his retirement in 2000.
Frontzeck began his coaching career as a manager at Alemannia Aachen in 2006. After that he was at the helm of Arminia Bielefeld and Borussia M'gladbach. In October 2012, Michael Frontzeck was appointed as a coach of FC St. Pauli and coaches the team till the date.
