Michael Andrew Martin O’Neill is a retired Northern Ireland football player and currently he manages the Northern Ireland national team.
Michael O’Neill was born in 1969 and started his playing career in his native country with Coleraine and then he played for many teams in England, Scotland and the USA. Among these teams were Newcastle United, Dundee United, Hibs, Coventry City, Wigan Athletic, St Johnstone, Portland Timbers, Clydebank, Glentoran and finished his professional career in Ayr United.
He played for the Northern Ireland Under-21, Under-23 national teams and for the Northern Ireland national team.
He started his managerial career in 2006 coaching Scottish team Brechin City and in 2009 he took charge of Shamrock Rovers, whom he led to two League of Ireland titles.
In December 2011 he was appointed the head coach of the Northern Ireland national team.
