José del Campo – or simply Míchel – is a former renowned footballer from Spain. During his football career he played as a midfielder in Real Madrid as well as in the Spain national football team. Currently, he coaches Greek side Olympiacos.
When a footballer, he mainly played in the position of a right midfielder (number 8). He began his football career in the youth Real Madrid team (1976-1981), In 1981-1984 he was on the squad of the famous Castilla CF. In the prime of his career he played for Real Madrid CF (1984-1996, 404 matches, 97 goals) and Celaya (1996-1997, 34 matches and 9 goals).
Míchel began his coaching career in 2005 with Rayo Vallecano (which then played in the third division). At the end of 2009, he left for Getafe CF. At the same time his son Adrian played at the club led by him.
On February 7, 2012, Míchel signed a one-year contract (has an extension clause) with the famous Sevilla CF. At the end of his one-year spell he was released from the Spanish club and signed for the Greek champions Olympiacos.
