Neil Francis Lennon is a retired footballer from Northern Ireland. Currently he is a manager of Celtic. He was born in 1971 in Lurgan, Northern Ireland. Since childhood he supported Celtic and played for Lugran Celtic youth team. The 1987/88 season he played for Glenavon, then he spent a season with Manchester City and in 1990 joined Crewe Alexandra, where he stayed until 1996 and then signed for Leicester City. In the winter of 2000, Lennon completed a move to Celtic. In 2005 and 2006 he was said to move to Leicester City and then to o Crystal Palace as a playing coach but he refused to do it and prolonged his contract with Celtic.
In June 2007, Lennon left Celtic for Nottingham Forest for half a season and then spent two months with Wycombe Wanderers. Having retired from football he took over as a manager of Celtic reserves and in March 2010 became the caretaker of the first team. In June he was appointed the manager and since then works there. Under his guidance Celtic twice finished Scottish Premier League runners up and in 2011/12 they won the title, in 2010/11 they won the Scottish Cup and twice they were runners up at Scottish League Cup.
From 1994 till 2002 Lennon represented the Northern Ireland national team and in total managed to earn 40 caps. He also used to be the team’s captain.
