Norbert Meier played in the position of midfielder during his career as a footballer.
The major part of Norbert’s playing career is connected with Werder Bremen. During 10 years spent with the club, Meier played 242 matches in Bundesliga. He spent last years of his playing career in Borussia Mönchengladbach where Meier managed to make 50 appearances.
Norbert played for the West Germany national team in 1982-1985 (16 matches) and scored several times.
Meier began his coaching career with Borussia Mönchengladbach but the coach became actually famous when he worked in MSV Duisburg and Dynamo Dresden. On December 6, 2005 there was an accident: Albert Streit from 1. FC Koln argued with Norbert and the latter play-acted an assault. Later Meier was fired from the club.
Since 2008 to 2013 Meier was at the helm of Fortuna Dusseldorf.
