Nuno Herlander Simões Espírito Santo is a Portuguese retired football player. Currently he is the manager of Rio Ave F.C.
He was born in 1974 in São Tomé and Príncipe. Nuno started his senior playing career with Vitória Sport Clube in Guimarães, and then he joined Deportivo de La Coruña. From there he was loaned to Mérida and Osasuna but when he stayed with Deportivo he was Jacques Songo’o and José Francisco Molina’s back-up.
In 2002, Porto signed Nuno for €3 million and during two seasons there he made 6 appearances for the club. In 2005, he moved to Russia to sign for FC Dynamo Moscow. In 2007, Nuno returned to Portugal joining with Clube Desportivo das Aves but without earning a cap he returned to Porto.
Nuno Espírito Santo recently started his managerial career taking charge of Rio Ave F.C. in May 2012.
