Oleh Blokhin is a Ukrainian coach and former professional striker. He was born on 5 November 1952 in Kiev.
The product of Dynamo Kyiv youth system, Oleh embarked on his professional career in the first team of the club in 1969. He made a total of 211 goals in 432 league appearances for the club during his 19-year stay there. Blokhin recorded a myriad of trophies with Dynamo Kyiv throughout his tenure. Among them are eight Soviet Top League wins, five Soviet Cup trophies, the UEFA Super Cup victory in 1975 and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup victories in 1975 and 1986. Oleh Blokhin was awarded the European Footballer of the Year title in 1975. He was the Soviet Footballer of the Year three times in a row, nine-times the Ukrainian Footballer of the Year and five-times the Soviet Top League best scorer. Due to his achievements and contribution to club’s success, Blokhin by right established himself as a legendary player of Dynamo Kyiv. Moreover, he was an honourable player for the Soviet Union national team since 1972 to 1988 amassing 42 goals in 112 international appearances.
After his long-term tenure at Dynamo, the renowned forward had short spells at the Austrian side Vorwärts Steyr and the Greek Cypriot club Aris Limassol before the retirement in 1990.
Oleh Blokhin took up coaching at the Greek side Olympiacos in 1990. He helped the side to finish as the Greek Superleague runner-up in 1991 and 1992, and become a Cup holder in 1992. Blokhin went on his managerial career with fellow Greek clubs PAOK, Ionikos and AEK Athens. Since 2003 to 2007, he was at the helm of the Ukraine national team helping them to climb up to the 2006 World Cup quarter-finals.
A stalwart of Dynamo Kyiv as a player, Oleh Blokhin took over the coaching reins at the club in September 2012. In 2014 he was released.
