Omar Andrés Asad is a retired Argentine footballer and a coach. He was born in 1971 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and played as a forward for Vélez Sársfield. Asad was one of the team’s key players, helping them to win Argentine Primera División several Clausura titles, Apertura, Copa Libertadores, Intercontinental Cup and other tournaments. He appeared in several matches for the Argentine national team and retired as a football player in 2000.
From 2003 to 2009 Asad was the manager of Vélez Sársfield youth teams and reserves and in 2010 he took charge of Godoy Cruz. He brought the squad to the 3rd place at the 2010 Clausura and 5th place the 2010 Apertura though he left the team for Emelec in Ecuador because of economic reasons in December 2010. In the summer of 2011 he was appointed the manager of San Lorenzo. In 2012 he took care of Godoy Cruz, which he used to manage earlier, signing a two-year contract. However, in November the same year he wsa released from the position.
In the summer 2013 he took charge of a Mexican side Atlas, but again was sacked a couple of months later.
