Paulo Alexandre Rodrigues Fonseca is a football manager from Portugal. He was born in 1973 in Maputo, Mozambique. During his professional career he played for Portuguese teams, such as Barreirense, Leça, Belenenses, Marítimo, Vitória Guimarães, and Estrela da Amadora.
Paulo Fonseca took over his managerial career in 2007 as the head coach of 1º de Dezembro, then he guided Odivelas. Between 2009 and 2011 he was the manager of Pinhalnovense, then he had a season at Desportivo Aves and in 2012 Fonseca took charge of Paços de Ferreira.
At the end of 2012/2013 season Fonseca was invited to coach national champions Porto but failed to improve the team’s performance and was released in March 2014.
