A South African football coach Pitso John Mosimane is currently managing Mamelodi Sundowns. He’s also the former professional player. Pitso was born on 26 July 1964 in Kagiso. He’s considered to be one of the best South African football coaches. This can be proved by the numerous trophies won with SuperSport United lately.
Pitso’s playing career lasted from 1982 to 1995. He used to perform as a midfielder for several South African clubs. Among them were Jomo Cosmos, Mamelodi Sundowns and Ionikos. On international level, the former player made four appearances for the national side of his motherland during the 1993/1994 season.
In 2001, Mosimane was appointed as a coach of Supersport United. He remained at the club until 2007, helping the team to become the holder of some major trophies. In 2007, Pitso served as the care-taker coach of the South African full side. But that didn’t last long as Carlos Alberto Parreira became the head coach and Mosimane was appointed as his assistant coach.
On 15 July 2010, he became the South African national squad’s head coach. Despite winning his first match in charge (a victory over Ghana, the World Cup Quarter Finalists), he didn’t manage to guide the team to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
In 2012, the coach penned a contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.
