Robert Maaskant is a former football player, who was born on 10 January 1969 in Netherlands. Maaskant started his career at the club Go Ahead Eagles, where he made 21 appearances and scored 1 goal. From 1990 to 1996 Maaskant played for such clubs as Emmen, Motherwell, Zwolle and Excelsior, totaling 132 appearances in various Dutch leagues and scoring 5 goals.
Maaskant stepped into coaching in 1999, when he was appointed the boss of RBC Roosendaal. After spending three seasons at the team, the tactician was invited to coach Go Ahead Eagles. From 2003 to 2010 the Dutchman headed a number of clubs, including Roosendaal, Willem II, Roosendaal, MVV and NAC Breda.
In 2010 he was introduced as Wisła Kraków head coach and claimed with the team the title of the Polish Championship.
On 23 May 2012 Maaskant took the spot of FC Groningen manager.
In the summer 2013 Maaskant was appointed the Dinamo Minsk manager and guided the club for half a season.
