Rudolf Bommer is former German midfielder and current manager of FC Energie Cottbus in the 2. Bundesliga. He was born on 19 August 1957 in Aschaffenburg, Germany.
Rudolf began his professional career with the Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1976 where he played for nine years amassing 38 goals in 264 appearances. Since 1985 till 1988, Bommer played for Bayer Uerdingen and then spent four seasons with Viktoria Aschaffenburg. The last five seasons of his playing career, Bommer spent at the top-flight Eintracht Frankfurt.
Rudolf Bommer embarked on his managerial career as a coach of Eintracht Frankfurt amateur side and went on as an assistant and then caretaker at the club. Since 1997 till 2011, coached a number of German sides such as VfR Mannheim, Viktoria Aschaffenburg, Wacker Burghausen, TSV 1860 München, 1. FC Saarbrücken and MSV Duisburg. In 2012, he took over reins at Energie Cottbus and coaches the club till today.
