Safet Sušić was born in 1955. A Bosnian former football player currently heads the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team.
Sušić started playing in his hometown Zavidovići with the club Krivaja. In 1973 he moved to FK Sarajevo and in 1982 he left it for a French club Paris Saint-Germain. During nine years there he got fame. The team won the French League in 1985/86 and was runner-up in 1988/89. In 1982/83 they won the French Cup title and in 1984/85 finished runner-up.
In 1991 Sušić joined Red Star Saint-Ouen for one season and there he finished his playing career.
From 1977 to 1990 he was a part of the Yugoslavia national football team.
His coaching career started in 1994 with Cannes in France, after that he moved to Turkey, where he headed such teams as Istanbulspor, Konyaspor, Ankaragücü, Çaykur Rizespor and Ankaraspor during a long period of time with a short spell in Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal.
In December 2009 he took charge of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team.
