Samet Aybaba is a Turkish retired defender and a coach. He was born on 2 March 1955 in Osmaniye, Turkey.
Samet started out his professional career at Beşiktaş in 1977. During his 11-year spell at the club he made a total of 334 appearances and helped his team to win the Turkish Süper Lig twice, in the 1981/82 and 1985/86 seasons. He was also an instrumental player during the Turkish Super Cup tournament in 1986 when his side became the champion as well.
In 1993, Aybaba embarked on his managerial career in 1993 signing for Kayseri Erciyesspor. In the next two seasons he coached Adana Demirspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor respectively. Throughout his coaching career, Aybaba won two Turkish Cups: one with Gençlerbirliği in the 2000/01 season and the other with Trabzonspor in the 2003/04 campaign. In between 2005 and 2011, Samet Aybaba was in charge of such Turkish clubs as Ankaraspor, Gaziantepspor, Çaykur Rizespor, Bursaspor, Gençlerbirliği and Bucaspor. In the summer 2012, Samet Aybaba took over reins at Beşiktaş for one season. Later on he guided Antalyaspor.
