Schellas Hyndman is an American football coach and former midfielder. He was born on 4 November 1951 in Macau.
As a player, Schellas spent the 1975 American Soccer League season at Cincinnati Comets. His managerial career took off when he was appointed the head coach at Eastern Illinois University which competed in the NCAA Division II. It was to Hyndman’s immense credit that the team broke into the NCAA Division I in 1981 and finished third there at the end of the season. Hyndman was by right awarded the 1981 NSCAA Coach of the Year.
In 1984, the renowned head coach took over reins at Southern Methodist University where he ruled the roost for 24 seasons up to the year of 2008. In the summer 2008, Schellas Hyndman took charge over FC Dallas in Major League Soccer. He was very close to taking the club to the MLS Cup win in 2010, but the team lost to Colorado Rapids in the final match on 21 November.
