Shota Arveladze is a retired Georgian forward and current coach of Kasımpaşa in the Turkish Super Lig. He was born on 22 February 1973 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Arveladze is a legendary Georgian player. With his 291 goals in 410 league matches he established himself as Georgia’s top scorer of all time. Shota announced himself to the Georgian football when he joined Dinamo Tbilisi in 1990. He won the Umaglesi Liga and the Georgian Cup each of his four consecutive seasons at the club, amassing 62 goals in 75 appearances during that period. In 1993, a skillful striker moved to the Turkish side Trabzonspor and won the 1994/95 Turkish Cup with them. In 1997, Arveladze got a toehold at the Dutch giants Ajax and pulled off his debut Dutch season as the Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup champion. Since 2001 till 2005, the Georgian striker played for Rangers in the Scottish Premier League winning the tournament in the 2002/03 and 2004/05 seasons. The last three years of his playing career Arveladze spent with the Dutch side AZ and the Spanish club Levante before retirement in 2008. Moreover, he scored 26 goals in 61 international matches for the Georgia national team in between 1992 and 2007.
Shota Arveladze embarked on his managerial career as an assistant coach at AZ in the Dutch Eredivisie. Since 2010 till 2012, he ruled the roost at the Turkish Kayserispor and in October 2012 took over reins at Kasımpaşa where he coaches till today.
