Sir Alex Ferguson is a Scottish footballer and coach who had been holding a Manchester United club manager position since 1986 to 2013.
Sir Alex is the most titled coach in the British football. He is also admitted to be one of the greatest managers in the world football history. He used to work with East Stirlingshire, St. Mirren and Aberdeen, and managed the Scotland national team for some time.
On 6 November 1986 Alex Ferguson was appointed Manchester United club manager. By the end of that season the club climbed up to 11th place in the league, having been 21st at the beginning. In 1987/1988 Ferguson bought a number of strong players which had a positive effect on the club performance - MU finished second. In 1989/1990 the club didn’t succeed and was on the verge of dismissal at the end of the season.
In 1991/1992, under Ferguson’s guidance, Manchester United lifted the UEFA Super Cup and the Football League Cup. 1998/1999 was the most fruitful for the club as they won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Alex Ferguson had been at the helm of Manchester United for 26 years and guided the club to 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 UEFA Champions Leagues titles, the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners Cup, the Inter-Continental Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and 10 FA Charity/Community Shield Cups which is an unbelievable achievement for a single manager and makes him an outstanding person. During his spell the club gained more trophies than during all their hundred-year history.
Sir Alex Ferguson retired from coaching in May 2013 and became the club's director.
In 1999 Queen Elizabeth II knighted Alex Ferguson. In 2002 he was included in the English Football Hall of Fame.
